Planetary Robotics

Lunar Robotic Excavation

Exploring how locomotion and excavation can work together in compact planetary rover systems.

01 / The Problem

Why this matters.

Planetary surface systems must operate in loose granular terrain where traction, sinkage, excavation resistance and material handling are tightly coupled. The research asks how a rover can excavate effectively without treating mobility and excavation as separate problems.

02 / Engineering Approach

From question to testable system.

The project combines mechanical design, controlled soil testing, wheel–terrain measurements and system-level analysis. Use this page to explain your wheel-integrated excavation concept, experimental variables and the physical mechanisms observed during testing.

Show the actual engineering.

Use this section for hardware architecture, sensors, actuators, test conditions, software, control, simulation or experimental setup. Keep technical depth available without forcing every visitor to read a paper first.
